March 2010 @ New Song Church | Kitchener

A week late is better than a dollar short right?! :-) We're already into March but that's OK right?!

Let me just start by saying the Ladies time away was such a blessing. It was a great mixture of a lot of fun, powerful moments in prayer, awesome stories of God's incredible Grace and Mercy and LOVE!!! and a whole lot of eating chocolate! I was truly blessed by it, that's for sure. I, honest to goodness, had a blast and others summed it up right, the best retreat we've had to date! Bar none!! Each and every lady there was meant to be there and all of you hold a special place in my heart. I loved getting to know you deeper and deeper. I believe that God knit our hearts together and we saw each other through new eyes and larger hearts. It was an incredible mix of Ladies too, 39 plus a baby, from all sorts of backgrounds - not just New Song. From no to little church experience to Baptist to Catholic and more. We're ONE body, worshipping ONE God!

Thanks again to Amanda for having the vision for this, Colleen for coming alongside her to help. Donna for opening up and being RAW and real with us and again Amanda for sharing your beautiful heart. It was a wonderful time together. Now that we've been back "in the real world" for a week now, I'm sure the Devil has tried to derail what God did up in the Muskoka's. I know he tried it on me! :-) Just stand your ground Ladies. One thing we heard over and over up there... "The Devil is a Liar". Don't let him plant whispers of doubt and discouragement. Don't let him steal your Joy! I encourage you to keep reminding yourselves that... God is GOOD - ALL the time & ALL the time - God is GOOD!!

I sooooo love the folks at New Song Church! You guys ROCK big time! The Staff at MBC totally enjoyed us as well. We made a HUGE impression on the staff up there and on the guests that came with us. Thank you everyone!

Mark 11:22-24, "And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly]. Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]."

February 2010 @ New Song Church | Kitchener

This Scripture verse was shared with Dave and I the other day and I think it is one to grab and hang onto for the month of February, 2 Corinthians 1:20, "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God."

The promises of God which are made through Christ, relate to the pardon of sin to the penitent; the sanctification of His people; support in temptation and trial; guidance in perplexity; peace in death, and eternal glory beyond the grave. All of these are made through a Redeemer, and none of these shall fail and will certainly be fulfilled. There will be no wavering on the part of God; no fickleness; no abandoning of His gracious intention.

"And in Him Amen" means true, faithful, certain; and the expression here means that all the promises which are made to men through a Redeemer shall be certainly fulfilled and will not fail!

You should all be shouting AMEN by now!!

Welcome 2010 @ New Song Church | Kitchener!!

Psalm 133:1-3 came to mind as I was pondering things on the drive home last night from spending some great time over Christmas with Dave's family.

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like the precious ointment poured on the head, that ran down on the beard, even the beard of Aaron (the first high priest), that came down upon the collar and skirts of his garments (consecrating the whole body). It is like the dew of (loft) Mount Hermon and the dew that comes on the hills of Zion; for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, even life forevermore (upon the high and the lowly)." (Amplified)

We've prayed for and talked a lot about "REVIVAL" during the past year. After I started digging into the great revivals of the past 100 years, it was no surprise that the birthing of it came out of "UNITY" and any guesses why it died....

Unity is KEY!!

Instead of (or at least in addition to) praying for the move of the Holy Spirit, I think, we should be focusing our prayers, our thoughts, our words and our actions towards preserving and perfecting the unity in the body of Christ and of the Spirit. The Bible says we're to walk in a manner worthy of the calling on each of our lives! Do you know what the perfect bond of unity is?? LOVE!! Love is a wonderful thing, it covers a multitude of sins, it bears all things, it hopes in everything, LOVE NEVER FAILS - in any situation!

If we get rid of our unfair practices, quit blaming victims, quit gossiping about other people's sins, quit pointing fingers, and every form of harsh, critical, unjust, false and wicked speaking... our lives will be changed from the inside out! (Isa 58:9)

UNITY IS KEY!!

We want to invest our best - going beyond ourselves - into a world that needs to taste and see that the Lord is good!

We thank you for joining with us on this journey!

Dave and Shannon Mischuk

New Song's Family Camp | Kitchener Church

This past weekend New Song Church escaped out of Kitchener to camp together as a family. We had an incredible time at Hidden Acres in New Hamburg. The kids made trenches in the sand, the teens and those wishing they were still teens... throwing each other off the dock, playing beach volleyball, campfires with smores and spider dogs plus 5 fabulous meals together. We were blessed by Chuck and Trish Price, who ministered to us Saturday night and Sunday morning. We also were thrilled to water baptize four people; Jim, Katie, Neena and Emma.

And we can't forget... Saturday night's talent show. We had many varying performances from break dancers to hip-hoppers to ballet to the cutest kids singing and everything in between. We laughed - We cried - We had a great time!

We have lots of photos to go through and a bunch of video footage. Until that gets all organized and published for everyone to see, here's a sneak peak into our weekend at family camp.

Introducing Miss A...

I have to say... we have a pretty incredible group of people all under one roof in this Kitchener church!

New Song Church is in partnership with tens of thousands of churches world wide. This past May we got together with some of the churches in Canada we have fellowship with. It was held in Mississauga this year and next year we get to travel to Vancouver Island. We would love to take our entire Kitchener Church to Victoria in May 2010. Road trip anyone?!

April @ New Song Church

Did you know that 82% of those you invite to church will say yes?!  82% of unchurched people will accept an invitation from you if they are simply asked.  Remember that Easter is just around the corner,  Sunday April 12, and 82% will say YES!!  Now that's incentive to invite!!

One other thing before the April calender gets listed below...  A happy belated birthday to New Song Church.  On March 7th we celebrated our 16th year as a church in downtown Kitchener!! It's amazing what God has done in us and through us over those years. We have immensely enjoyed our journey, just as God promised.  Thank you to all who have helped us get to where we are today, for your love, support and many many prayers.  God is good and His mercy endures forever!!

Here are a few things you may want to join in on this month:

Sundays @ 9:30am join us for pre-service prayer & 10am for the service in the main sanctuary. Children (12 months to grade 6) will be dismissed to their age appropriate classes following the worship time.  @ 6pm come on back for our youth / young adults service, grade 7+ (there will not be a PM service on Apr 12).

Sunday Apr 5 @ 6pm we will be having a family-style dinner, bring enough food to share.
Sunday Apr 12 @ 10am is our Easter Sunday service.

Mondays @ 7pm the church is used by the Waterloo Region Down syndrome Society for their Buddy Choir practices.

Tuesdays there's always something going on.  1st & 3rd Tuesday @ 7pm (Apr 7 & 21) join Todd and Darlene in their home in Kitchener for a Bible study.  2nd & 4th Tuesday @ 7pm (Apr 14 & 28) it's time for the ladies to get out and come together for a time of fellowship and a study of the Word.  Please email us for specific address information for these events.

Bi-monthly on Wednesdays @ 10am ~ Dave Mischuk, pastor of NSC, does a Bible study at the church with groups of adults from Christian Horizons.  Every Wednesday @ 7pm is a prayer service.  Prayer is a vital part of the life of the church!  On many Wednesdays we run a Kid's Club simultaneously, some activities may require pre-registration and a small fee.

Thursdays @ 7pm the church is open for the muso's in our midst.  On the 1st & 3rd Thursdays (Apr 2 & 16) are reserved for the worship team to practice for the upcoming Sunday service.  The 2nd & 4th Thursdays (Apr 9 & 23) it's open for those who want to get together to jam, make some noise, sharpen their skills and share their songs.

Every other Friday @ 7pm (Apr 3 & 10) join Geof and Sharon in their home in Waterloo for a Bible study. Sean and Cheryl open their home in Kitchener most Friday nights for an informal, social gathering.

Start Good Friday off right, Friday April 10th @ 10am, join us at the church for a time of awe, worship and joy as we remember what Jesus did for us upon that cross over 2,000 years ago. Brunch will be served following the service.

Saturday April 4th ~ WRDSS is having a full day event at the church.
Saturday April 11th ~ Kyle and Hannah's wedding!!  Congratulations you two!!

Denomination?

There are two questions that we're always asked...

#1 - What denomination is your church?

#2 - How big is your church?

First of all, let's describe what that term "denomination" actually means.

It is used to give definition to a group or class. It's how people easily understand where you fit into the picture. If we were to say, we're...  "Pentecostal" or "Baptist" or "Protestant", you'd know instantly what we stood for or how our church runs. The picture is instantly filled in for you with one simple word.

If I was to answer you by saying we're "nondenominational" what image does that convey in your mind? That term is used to describe a group that doesn't fit into the usual groups.  It's brush is wide. This is then us but it's not all at the same time...

After having grown quite the successful Bible study group back in the early 1900's,  Harry A. Ironside was asked by a lady who had been attending, what denomination was he a part of.  He answered her with this, "I belong to the same denomination as [King] David did. He wrote that he was a companion of all those who fear God and keep His precepts."  That's a wonderful group to be a part of!

Doesn't that describe all of those churches in all of those denominations?!  Aren't we all revering and worshipping God and putting our trust in Him (Ps. 40:3)?!  Why do we have to divide lines?  Why do people argue whose denomination is right and whose is wrong?  The Bible says that there is only one way to Heaven - that's through Jesus - not your denomination.

We belong to the same family!  One Spirit, one Christ, one God, one body, one spirit, one hope, one death, one way to heaven.

We will be living with each other for eternity; we might as well learn to get along right now, down here on earth.  We need to stand together and march in step with each other.  Time is short and the message is getting garbled.  Let's not be part of the problem -- let's be part of the solution! Let's tighten the belt of peace around the body of Christ together.

If that is as clear as mud...

Dave, pastor of New Song Church, is licensed through CFCM (Canadian Fellowship of Churches and Ministers) but it's our relationship with NCMI (New Covenant Ministries International) that helps New Song flourish.  It is this fellowship where iron can truly sharpen iron.

As to the question about what size our church is?

We usually answer it this way, what's more important... huge numbers or huge maturity?  It's not a cop-out or excuse because our church is around 100 people.  We'd rather be an inch wide but a mile deep any day.  In the last year God has been challenging us, "Where are you going to put them and how are you going to disciple them?" if we can't get that right, what business do we have in growing.  There are things God wants to get in order and then He'll add to the church.

Does that answer those questions for you?

If not, come by the church in Kitchener to check us out.  We own a wonderful building at 485 Charles Street E, across from KW Counselling Services and Tim Hortons.  Our Sunday service begins at 10am.  We have children's Church which is dismissed after our lively time of worship. Stick around after the service for a coffee and ask all the questions you want.
