Missions Work

Team 91:1... "HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]".

In the summer of 2008 we provided an opportunity for people - young and old - to travel to the nations and serve alongside local churches in what they are doing to bless and love their communities with the Gospel of Jesus.

They really only arrived with one agenda - to bless everyone in sight and to serve wherever needed in whatever capacity! However, none of them return the same. God's love broke in on their hearts as they saw themselves being used by him to reach people with completely different languages & cultures. There is nothing like getting enlarged as you realize that the world is bigger than your home town!

I guess there was a second agenda... to ruin everyone who went forever so they can never settle for boring, mediocre "North American-Dream-Christianity"; but rather to continue to see themselves as lifelong "ball-carriers" on the earth with a job to do until our Saviour returns.

2008 Missions Destination & Details:

KwaZulu Natal (Durban area):

5 teenagers from New Song Church along with Shannon Mischuk met up with 15 other people from California and spent 3 weeks with churches in and around Durban, South Africa. They worked into KwaZulu Natal which has the highest population of those infected with HIV/AIDS in the world. Team 91:1 (Africa '08) worked in 2 HIV/AIDS effected orphanages, painting their bathrooms and other buildings, built fences to protect gardens and loved on the children. They did a major grocery shopping day and packed bags to feed 50 families and 100 blankets for children through the programs offered at Victory Faith Church in Pinetown, SA.

The group was introduced to some incredible people who have opened their homes to orphans, abused women, HIV/AIDS patients and more. They handed out groceries and prayed for the sick in the township of Embo. They saw some incredible miracles as some who were lame - began to walk!! The hand of God worked mightily through Team 91:1 (Africa '08)!
